The 2026 World Cup will mark a milestone as it will be held for the first time in three host countries and with 48 national teams. This innovative edition is also reflected in its official mascots: Maple, Zayu, and Clutch, a moose, a jaguar, and an eagle representing Canada, Mexico, and the United States, respectively, and aiming to convey unity, diversity, and passion for soccer.
During its presentation, FIFA highlighted the creativity behind these characters, conceived to honor the cultural richness of each country and motivate fans to experience something unique. President Gianni Infantino stated: "The 2026 World Cup team keeps growing... and it's getting much more fun! Maple, Zayu, and Clutch bring joy, excitement, and that spirit of unity that defines the FIFA World Cup".
"These three mascots are an essential element of the festive atmosphere we're creating for this historic tournament, and I'm convinced they'll win the hearts of fans in North America and around the world," commented Gianni Infantino, president of the organization. He also announced that the mascots will appear on children's jerseys, video games, and official merchandise.
