FIFA revealed the ideal XI of the 2026 World Cup made by fans: how many Argentinians are there

Days after the closure of the 2026 World Cup, FIFA published the ideal team of the tournament, a formation chosen by the fans that brings together the most outstanding players of the competition. In this edition, the XI includes two Argentinians: Lionel Messi and Lisandro Martínez.

At 39 years old, the captain of the Argentinian National Team was once again one of the great protagonists of a World Cup. His eight goals and four assists were crucial for Lionel Scaloni's team to reach a new final, while the Manchester United defender established himself as one of the most consistent pieces of the back line, although he suffered an injury in the decisive match against Spain.

For its part, the new world champion was the team with the most representation in the eleven, with three players: full-backs Pedro Porro and Marc Cucurella, in addition to Rodri, who also received the Ballon d'Or as the best player of the tournament. The same number of players was present from France, with the presence of Dayot Upamecano, Michael Olise and Kylian Mbappé.

The rest of the team is completed by Englishman Jude Bellingham, Norwegian Erling Haaland, and Vozinha, the standout goalkeeper from Cape Verde who was one of the great revelations of the championship after his outstanding performances in his team's historic World Cup debut.

According to FIFA, the selection was exclusively in the hands of the fans. Once the tournament ended, users were able to vote among different tactical schemes and select the eleven players from a list prepared by the organization based on the players' performances during the World Cup.

The voting was open to all registered users on FIFA's official platform, which claimed to have implemented mechanisms to prevent duplicate or fraudulent votes and ensure the transparency of the selection.
