The health of Mirtha Legrand continues to be monitored by medical professionals while she remains hospitalized at Sanatorio Mater Dei. In recent hours, new details about her progress have emerged, and although the situation requires caution, those close to her have indicated that the host is showing gradual improvements.
On Puro Show (eltrece), Walter Leiva provided information from outside the institution and emphasized that the host's condition must be evaluated continuously. “The pneumonia is minute by minute, but she is in one of the best medical facilities,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Nancy Duré shared information she received from Legrand's close circle and mentioned that her recovery is progressing gradually.
The host was hospitalized twice in a month
“The physiotherapist goes twice a day,she is already sitting and watching TV. We shouldn't rush her or burden her with our anxiety; we need to allow her recovery to take the time it needs,” she explained.
Additionally, Guillermo Lobo noted that the host is “in very good spirits” and that in recent hours she was moved to a regular room.
What the doctors said about Mirtha Legrand's recovery
The program also consulted Dr. Claudio Santa María to explain the general characteristics of this type of respiratory condition and the care it may require in an elderly person.
“Pneumonia is an infection that affects the lung lobes. Imagine that air enters the lungs, we take in oxygen, and thanks to that, we live. When there is an infection, the ability to breathe decreases,” he explained.
The specialist emphasized that this is a situation that requires monitoring and added: “The condition is always complex, but even more so for a 99-year-old person who, due to her age, has decreased immunity.”
He also pointed out that antibiotics may take several days to produce the expected effect. “She has a few more days to go, but we need to see how she evolves,” he indicated.
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of maintaining mobility during hospitalization. “When you hospitalize a person, their diet changes, their locomotion changes, they lose muscle mass… it is essential, as in her case, that she has a physiotherapist to keep her active,” he stated.
