After an exciting series that had a total of 11 goals, the second and last place finisher in the Champions League final was finally announced: Paris Saint-Germain.
Despite a 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich in the second leg in Germany, those led by Luis Enrique won the overall score 6-5 and will play for the second time in a row in a European championship, this time against Arsenal. As soon as the match started at the Allianz Arena, PSG would be ahead of the scoreboard thanks to the goal scored by Ousmane Dembélé after a great assist in the midfield of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Shortly after the goal, two of the night's controversies against Bayern would appear.
First, Nuno Mendes, who already had a yellow one, touched the ball with his arm and did not see the second warning, and minutes later the referee would not charge a questionable penalty for João Neves's hand in the area after an attempt to clear Vitinha.
Beyond these episodes, the match went on and, unlike the frenetic 5-4 of the first leg, it had a much more tactical and balanced development. The local team managed possession and proposed in the attack, but it was neutralized by a defensive approach from the visitor who was betting on increasing the difference in counterattack plays and who managed to show the
clearest chances.
Already in the second half, this trend continued, with a Bavarian team that was looking for any discount that would get them into the series and a Parisian team focused on holding on and surprising against it.
In this context, both archers became essential for the result to remain inert, especially Manuel Neuer, who saved those led by Vincent Kompany on several occasions. When everything seemed to indicate that the match would end in victory for PSG, at the close of the game, Harry Kane would nail it in Matvey Safonov's right corner to equalize the score. However, this late discount would not be enough to match the series, which eventually ended 6-5 in
favor of the French team.
With this result, the final of the Champions League 2026 already knows its participants: Arsenal (won 2-1 overall against Atlético de Madrid) and Paris Saint-Germain. The grand definition will be next Saturday, May 30 at the Puskás Arena in Budapest, Hungary, starting at 13:00 Argentine time
