The Holy See confirmed that Pope Leo XIV will make an apostolic visit to the Argentine Republic between November 8 and 11, 2026, a historic event of great relevance both spiritually and institutionally.

The announcement was officially communicated by the President's Office, which detailed that the trip responds to the formal invitation made by the president Javier Milei at the beginning of this year.

According to the statement released from Casa Rosada, “the Holy See has confirmed the Apostolic Visit of His Holiness Leo XIV to the Argentine Republic, which will take place between November 8 and 11 of this current year.” In the same text, the Executive emphasized that the arrival of the Pontiff represents “a highly significant spiritual and institutional event for our country and for all Argentines.”

The Government also specified that the invitation was personally delivered at the Vatican by Chancellor Pablo Quirno during an official mission carried out in February. In this regard, it was highlighted that “the decision of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to visit the Argentines responds to the official invitation made by the President of the Nation, Javier G. Milei.”

Following the confirmation, the President himself publicly expressed his enthusiasm through a message on social media, emphasizing the historic nature of the visit.

“ARGENTINA WILL WELCOME THE POPE,” Milei stated, adding: “I was officially notified that Argentina will receive the Apostolic Visit of His Holiness Leo XIV, accepting the invitation we made at the beginning of the year.”

Additionally, he specified the planned schedule: “Between November 8 and 11, we will welcome the Holy Father to our country. A historic visit for all Argentines.”

In the same vein, Chancellor Quirno recalled the process that led to the confirmation of the trip and celebrated the Vatican's response. “A few months ago, I had the honor of personally delivering the invitation from the President of the Nation to the Holy Father to visit Argentina,” he stated.

He added: “Today we receive with great joy the confirmation of that Apostolic Visit.” He also reaffirmed the dates of the trip: “Pope Leo will visit Argentina from November 8 to 11.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship is already working in coordination with the Apostolic Nunciature and the Argentine Episcopal Conference to organize the agenda and logistical aspects of the event.

According to the Government, “all necessary security and logistical conditions have been guaranteed to carry out this apostolic visit.”

Finally, the Executive emphasized the expectation generated by the announcement and reaffirmed the commitment that the visit will have a positive social impact.

“The Argentine Republic is ready to give the warmest welcome to the Holy Father and renews its commitment to ensure that his visit constitutes a moment of joy and hope for all Argentines,” concludes the official statement.

The arrival of Leo XIV will thus mark a historic event for Argentina and will open a series of activities that will be defined in conjunction with ecclesiastical authorities.
