The highly anticipated clash between Argentina and Spain, the champions of America and Europe, already has a confirmed date and venue: Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Lusail Stadium in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The same venue that witnessed the national team of Lionel Scaloni lift the World Cup will once again host a historic showdown, with the Finalissima as the prize at stake.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, both AFA and RFEF are already working with FIFA to finalize the details of the match, which would be played during the March international window. The date would coincide with the European and intercontinental play-offs, but the intention of the world's football governing body is to give absolute priority to the match, with no other international activity that day.
Although several possible venues were considered in recent months, including Wembley, Miami, Riyadh, and Montevideo, Doha would prevail for several reasons: its favorable climate, the intermediate location between both countries, and above all, its symbolic connection with Argentina's triumph in 2022. In addition, Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, has his main residence in the Qatari capital, which would also influence the decision.
