Helmut Sterz, who was a former head of toxicology at Pfizer in Europe, recently stated that between 20,000 and 60,000 deaths in Germany could be linked to the COVID-19 vaccine.
His statements were made on March 19, 2026 during his presentation to the Bundestag pandemic research commission, the German Parliament.
Sterz, a veterinary doctor and toxicologist with more than 35 years of experience, appeared before the Polquete-Kommission after being invited by the right-wing AfD party.
Although he was not involved in the development of the Comirnaty vaccine, developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, he indicated that he analyzed documentation public and drug authorization. His oral intervention lasted approximately five minutes, but was accompanied by a detailed written presentation
. Helmut Sterz
During his presentation, he argued that the vaccine “should never have been approved under normal standards” and stated that the approval process transformed the mass vaccination campaign into “prohibited
human experiments”.
Lack of safety studies
.
In addition, he considered that accelerated procedures would only have been acceptable in the case of a virus with extreme lethality, such as Ebola, and not for one with an impact comparable to that of a
strong flu.
The specialist stated that at least ten essential preclinical toxicological studies were omitted. Among them, he noted the absence of research on carcinogenicity, that is, the risk of cancer, which he described as “very questionable
and regrettable”.
It also indicated that studies on reproductive toxicity and fertility were insufficient or flawed, with no reliable data on effects on pregnancy or offspring development.
Sterz argued that long-term toxicity studies were ruled out due to “time limitations” without adequate justification.

In addition, he assured that there were differences in the vaccine production processes: while a small-scale formulation was used in clinical trials, a bacterial process was applied in mass manufacturing that, he said, introduced contamination with bacterial DNA into the vials, with possible unpredictable consequences
for the human genome.
Mortality
In relation to the impact on mortality, the former toxicologist cited 2,133 deaths reported to the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI) after the
administration of the vaccine.
Based on these data, he applied an underreporting factor of approximately 30 times, based on systems such as the VAERS in the United States, and estimated that the real figure could reach 60,000 deaths in Germany linked to vaccination.
The German Parliament.
It also indicated that, in initial reports after authorization, Pfizer would have recorded more than 1,200 suspicious deaths in the first two months of applying the product. In that regard, he stated that the vaccine should have been withdrawn from the market at that time.
Sterz also questioned the effectiveness of the product in terms of age-adjusted mortality, pointing out that it failed to reduce it and that, in some analyses, it would even have been associated with an increase. Along these lines, he described the vaccination campaign as a “tragedy” and maintained that it left “millions of victims around the world
”.
Finally, he criticized the fact that, despite the existence of thousands of reports of serious adverse effects, the vaccine has not been withdrawn from the market.
