Formula 1: Colapinto spoke after the Austrian GP and explained his incidents during the race
The Argentine driver spoke about the contact with Tsunoda, the penalty for blocking Piastri, and regretted not scoring points for Alpine despite having good race pace
Franco Colapinto finished 15th in the Austrian Grand Prix, in a changing race that left mixed feelings for the Argentine driver, who suffered a collision with Yuki Tsunoda and controversy for not letting Oscar Piastri pass. With some resignation, he analyzed his performance after the race: "We need to be stronger for the next one".
Regarding the incident with Tsunoda, who hit him and broke part of the front wing and the floor of the car, Colapinto showed some annoyance although he acknowledged that the Japanese Red Bull driver apologized after the race: "Tsunoda apologized to me, it's all good. It's a shame because in that maneuver I broke the wing and the floor. It's a pity because we were improving the pace", he commented.

In addition, the Alpine driver was penalized five seconds for not yielding to Piastri after his last pit stop. About that episode, he explained: "The truth is that I didn't see Piastri. He was in my blind spot. I was fighting with Tsunoda and I wasn't focused on him. Later I let him pass and it's all good".
La polémica con Piastri
Despite having achieved good sector times during the race, Colapinto didn't manage to enter the points zone. His teammate at Alpine, Pierre Gasly, also didn't have a standout race and finished in 13th position.
Now, the Argentine will seek to recover in the next round, aiming to score his first points of the season and help Alpine improve its position in the championship.
When Colapinto will race again
F1 will resume action next week, from Friday, July 5 to Sunday, July 7, at the Silverstone Grand Prix in Great Britain. At that legendary circuit, last year the Argentine driver had his first experience in a GP during a challenging FP1 in the rain with Williams.
