Formula 1: Gasly spoke about his relationship with Colapinto and the moves at Alpine
The French driver commented on what the relationship with his teammates is like within the French team
The recent change in Alpine's line-up, with the promotion of Franco Colapinto replacing Jack Doohan, continues to make headlines in Formula 1. This time, Pierre Gasly, the main driver for the French team, shared his opinion on the decision and commented on how he gets along with the young Argentine and the rest of the team.
"With some drivers, it happens naturally. With others, it takes more time, and with others, there's no connection at all," said the 29-year-old French driver in an interview with Road & Track.
Gasly also addressed the adaptation process between teammates: "You go through a kind of learning phase, trying to understand each other, and to understand that to move the team forward, you have to work together. You can be friends, sometimes not, and it still works well if you're pushing the team forward."

He also explained what he considers essential for a good professional relationship within the garage: "I wouldn't say it takes a long time, but I want to know who I'm working with. I want to sit down and understand what kind of values you have, what kind of mindset you have. Once you break the ice and go a little further, you start to build a relationship, but this obviously takes time."
The Frenchman emphasized that, beyond rivalry, a good connection between drivers is key to collective performance: "Drivers must work together and to do that they have to learn from each other. They have to create a bond," he said when referring to Colapinto's arrival.
Although each pair has its own dynamic, the most recent images and statements show a good rapport between Gasly and the Argentine, which could translate into a positive impact on Alpine's performance in the upcoming races.
