PAMI will maintain its free medication program throughout December 2025, a system that guarantees full coverage of essential treatments. According to the official information from the organization, the measure is sustained through two main mechanisms: an essential medication formulary and a social subsidy for members facing economic difficulties.
The benefit is aimed at retirees and pensioners, especially those who require long-term treatments for chronic illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, or high cholesterol, as well as costly therapies related to serious diseases.

PAMI free medications for retirees: what is covered

- A recent court ruling ordered the reinstatement of a previous version of the list.

- Medications for HIV, hepatitis B and C.
- Hemophilia, rheumatoid arthritis, and medications related to transplants.

3. Social subsidy
- Covers medications not included in the essential formulary.
- Granted according to the member's socioeconomic status.
- Requires medical validation and verification of vulnerability.
