Surprise at River: Gallardo recovers Facundo Colidio for the Libertadores debut
The forward was discharged and has already started working toward the first date of the continental tournament against Universitario
After the 2-2 draw against Rosario Central, River resumed training with their sights set on the match against Universitario in Lima for the Copa Libertadores. Meanwhile, Marcelo Gallardo received good news: Facundo Colidio recovered earlier than expected and will be available for the trip to Peru.

The forward had suffered a tear in his right adductor during the match against Deportivo Riestra, and initially, his return was expected for the second date of the tournament against Barcelona de Guayaquil. However, after intensifying physical work in Monday's practice, he received medical clearance and could at least be on the roster.
With this news, Gallardo might opt to play with two forwards and sacrifice a midfielder compared to the line-up that drew with Canalla. "We need to change the mindset. It forces us to be well and continue evolving as a team," expressed the coach in a press conference.
In the forward line, Colidio will compete with Ian Subiabre, who recently scored his first goal in the First Division, to join Miguel Borja in the attack.

Montiel, Kranevitter, and Pity, confirmed absences
Unlike Colidio, Gonzalo Montiel will not travel to Peru. The full-back suffered a tear in his left calf, which even left him out of the Argentina National Team's draft for the double qualifying date.
Additionally, Gonzalo Martínez and Matías Kranevitter will also not be available. Pity suffered a slight strain in the soleus of his left leg, while Kranevitter has a fiber rupture in his right quadriceps.

Another player in doubt is Giuliano Galoppo, who reduced his physical load and has little chance of traveling. In his place, Kevin Castaño appears as an option in the midfield.

Possible changes in the team to face Universitario
Looking ahead to the debut in the Copa Libertadores, Gallardo could make changes in all lines. In defense, Paulo Díaz could enter in place of Germán Pezzella or Martínez Quarta. On the left side, the physical condition of Marcos Acuña would open the door for Milton Casco to be a starter.
With several open fronts, Muñeco is finalizing the last details to start his new participation in the continental tournament on the right foot.
