Georgina Barbarossa recalled the sexual abuse she suffered from Jorge Porcel

The Moria series, available on Netflix, reopened the debate about the artistic environment of the eighties and the behaviors of several figures from that era. Among the names that resurfaced is Jorge Porcel, remembered as one of the great comedians of the time, but also criticized for reprehensible attitudes towards women at work.

Georgina Barbarossa was one of those who spoke candidly. In an interview with the reporter from Sálvese quien pueda, on América, the host made her opinion about the capocómico clear. “Don’t talk to me about him because he was a despicable being,” she said right off the bat.

She explained the context in which she had to endure those situations: she was just starting to work, very young, and her family's financial situation was complicated, so she couldn't afford to quit. “I had to suffer through it and I didn’t say anything to the Basque because at that moment I was just starting to work, I was very young, and we were really struggling financially, so I had to work anyway,” she recounted.

One of the hardest episodes she recalled happened during a recording. Porcel touched her butt “in a horrible way that I won’t describe.” Georgina went to cry in the dressing room. There, she was found by Carmen Vallejo, mother of Selva Alemán, who comforted her and promised that from that moment on she would stay by her side during the sketches to prevent the episode from happening again.

A bitter bread and a rage that doesn’t fade

Barbarossa's anger grew as she recalled those years. She mentioned that, already pregnant and without a penny, she had to work on Ratones y Gatitas, Porcel's show. “I swear it was a bitter bread, a fat slob,” she stated. And she concluded with a harsh phrase: “Look, I don’t like to talk about dead people, but may God keep him in a garbage can and not let him out.”

The suffering was so deep that she could only talk about the issue many years later, in therapy. The host acknowledged that for a long time she remained silent out of necessity and due to the context of the time.

When asked about Carmen Barbieri's perspective, who was in love with Porcel and was his partner, Georgina admitted that she never understood how she didn’t realize what was happening around her. “I never talked about it with Carmen, I never understood, but well, everyone falls in love as they can, but I don’t understand how she fell in love with him,” she said.

She added that she never told her directly: “The truth is that I never told her, but well, she was so in love, what am I going to say? ‘Your boyfriend was disgusting, a degenerate.’”
