Gonzalo Valenzuela and the moving account of his son Silvestre's health
The actor spoke about his son's responsibility in the treatment and about the changes at home
Gonzalo Valenzuela once again addressed his eldest son's neurological disorder, Silvestre, the result of his relationship with Juana Viale. The young man, who is 17 years old, was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 12, and since then the actor has highlighted how he supports him through this process.
The confession took place on the podcast Código Púrpura, from the Chilean League Against Epilepsy, where Valenzuela emphasized the importance of speaking openly about the subject. "What's important is that these things are discussed," he stated.
Silvestre's commitment to his treatment
Amid laughter, the actor shared that his son calls himself "Silvexia," and highlighted his level of responsibility. "He takes care of taking his medication every day, in the morning and at night. He's extremely responsible, he knows he must do it consistently," he recounted.
Valenzuela recalled that, at the beginning, he had to insist a lot on the importance of the treatment: "I kept at it every day, reminding him how essential it was." However, he clarified that a key point was reached: giving him the responsibility.

"He knows that if he goes two or three years without episodes, this decreases," he explained about the hope they have of stabilizing his condition.
Family changes to support the process
The actor also recounted an episode that marked a turning point: "He ended up hospitalized, with three consecutive seizures after drinking alcohol." Since then, he assured that Silvestre understood his limits and respects them.
"He is very clear that in his condition there are things he can't cross. He can't drink even a drop of alcohol, and that reassures me as a father," he stated.
Valenzuela also confessed that he himself adopted new habits in his daily life. "In my house, alcohol is no longer consumed. It's not something essential for our lives. I have to show him that life can be just as or even more enjoyable," he emphasized.
