Milei's government removed the name 'Centro Cultural Kirchner' from the Palacio Libertad
The removal of the Kirchner name represents another step against political propaganda disguised as culture
The Government of Javier Milei has taken another step in its initiative called "depoliticization of the State" by permanently removing the name "Centro Cultural Kirchner" (CCK), a symbol of Kirchnerist populism, from the facade of the historic former Central Post Office building.
The removal of the letters was shown by the presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, who, true to his style, communicated on his X account: "Finally today the pending modifications on the facade of the Palacio Libertad have been completed. End."
The decision to rename the monumental building as Palacio Libertad Domingo Faustino Sarmiento was made official on October 10, 2024 through its publication in the Official Gazette, and materialized in an event led by President Javier Milei.

In that ceremony, an orchestra performed the Hymn to Sarmiento, in a clear tribute to the legacy of education and progress of the Argentine hero, marking the contrast with the arbitrary imposition of the Kirchner surname on the building during the term of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
The building, originally inaugurated in 1928 during the presidency of Marcelo T. de Alvear and declared a National Historic Monument in 1997, underwent a monumental transformation under the Kirchnerist government, which allocated millions to convert it into a cultural center, in what was denounced as a self-promotion strategy funded with public funds.
The CCK was inaugurated in 2015, in the final months of Cristina Kirchner's second term, as part of an offensive to establish the Kirchnerism narrative in the cultural sphere.

However, Milei's arrival at the Casa Rosada brought with it the decision to reclaim the building for the Argentine people, banishing the mark of Kirchnerist corruption and ideological manipulation. Thus, since October 2024, the Palacio Libertad website operates under a new official domain, with an institutional design in line with the new administration.
The administration of the renewed Palacio Libertad was entrusted to María Ángeles Mira, who assumed the role of director of Planning and Programming through Administrative Decision 958/2024. Her mission: to restructure the programming and ensure that the cultural center responds to a vision of freedom and excellence, leaving behind the militant indoctrination of Kirchnerism.
