The Foreign Ministry condemned the Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, reaffirmed its support for the sovereignty of states, and expressed its rejection of any aggression that threatens stability and peace in the Middle East
In a global scenario shaken by the actions of extremist groups, the Argentine Republic has once again positioned itself at the forefront of the international concert with a foreign policy that is unambiguous and unwavering. The Chancellery of the Milei Government issued a categorical condemnation of the repeated attacks carried out by the terrorist groups Houthis against various cities and the civilian population of Saudi Arabia, which took place on September 8, 15, and 16.
The diplomatic document prepared by the San Martín Palace qualifies these aggressions by stating that the Argentine state “considers these aggressions to be unacceptable, unjustified, and contrary to the fundamental principles of international law”.

In this sense, the national administration emphasized its alignment with the global republican order by communicating: “The Argentine government expresses its solidarity with the people and government of Saudi Arabia and reaffirms its rejection of all forms of aggression that violate the sovereignty of states and threaten stability and peace in the Middle East region”. For his part, official Quirno reinforced this formal commitment through digital channels by stating: “The Argentine Republic condemns the attacks against Saudi territory and civilians”.
This official stance responds to the urgency of halting the advance of extremist factions funded by the theocratic regime of Iran. The Houthis are part of the so-called structure of the Axis of Resistance, a network of radical militias also composed of the organizations Hamas, Hezbollah, and various Iraqi forces.
In addition to maintaining a frontal rejection of the very existence of the Israeli state, these factions dispute the hegemony of the Middle East in a conflict that combines economic and social factors with deep sectarian disputes between Sunnis and Shiites, as well as historical tensions between Arabs and Persians.

In the context of this geopolitical clash, the Houthi militia declared a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia and claimed to have taken control of the Yemeni coast in the Red Sea and the strategic Bab el Mandeb strait. The relevance of this corridor for the transport of oil and international trade supplies became critical after Iran previously blocked the Strait of Hormuz.
In light of this blockade, Saudi Arabia depended on Bab el Mandeb as an alternative route to supply global energy markets, so the insurgent advance represents an economic suffocation maneuver against the world's leading crude oil exporter.
The reactivation of the war conflict in Yemen has deepened rapidly since July, when the fragile truce in effect since 2022 was broken. This deterioration of the regional front is a direct consequence of the expansion of the war scenario opened after the offensive carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran at the end of February. In recent weeks, Houthi fighters marched en masse in the capital Sana'a during a show of force recorded on Thursday, September 10.
The Houthis shot down a Saudi plane
On the strictly military front, the insurgency spokesperson, Yahya Saree, stated that his forces shot down a F-15 fighter jet of the Saudi air force over the Marib province using a locally made surface-to-air missile, asserting that the aircraft was conducting hostile operations.
Furthermore, Yahya Saree dismissed the accusations from the Saudi kingdom linking the group to an attempted bombing of the holy city of Mecca, asserting: “Our operations target oil facilities and military bases, which are far removed from sacred places”.
Despite these statements, direct confrontations resulted in at least 63 deaths in a single day on both sides. Government sources confirmed the death of 23 loyal soldiers following a wave of missile and drone attacks on the provinces of Taiz and Lahj. In contrast, insurgent spokespeople admitted to the loss of 40 fighters due to Saudi bombings and infantry combat.
Houthi Terrorists
The repercussions of terrorism also struck the territory of Saudi Arabia, where the Civil Defense officially reported the first fatality since the beginning of the incursions. The agency confirmed that 1 Yemeni citizen died and 2 others were injured due to the impact of fragments from an intercepted drone over the province of Taif, also registering damage to buildings and vehicles. Simultaneously, media aligned with the insurgents reported Saudi attacks on telecommunications infrastructure in Taiz and Hajjah, claiming the deaths of civilians and children.
All this violence has severely impacted Yemen, considered the poorest country in the Arabian Peninsula. Figures released by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) warn that more than 100,000 people have been forced to flee their homes due to the intensification of hostilities, highlighting the contrast between the regimes that fuel chaos and the firm diplomatic response of nations that, like Argentina, raise their voices in favor of sovereignty, justice, and the peaceful freedom of peoples.
