On August 1, the Government dismissed the head of alerts at the Department of Homeland Security after releasing an official statement informing about the entry of 49,000 immigrants

In a move that demonstrates the democratic fragility of socialist Pedro Sánchez, the Executive has dismissed with immediate effect the official responsible for disseminating the informational alerts from the Department of National Security (DSN) of the Presidency of the Government.

The reason for this swift dismissal is none other than the distribution of an official communication last Friday, July 31, in which it was early acknowledged that the number of illegal immigrants who had stormed the border in Ceuta had already reached 49,000 people.

The management of the migration crisis by Sánchez's government is portrayed by its attempt to silence data that discomforts the official narrative.

The information disseminated by the DSN, which caused a "deep discomfort" among political leaders, directly cited sources from the Ministry of the Interior and indicated the arrival of more than 49,000 immigrants via the pier and the beach of Tarajal, a figure that, as later became known, ended up exceeding 60,000 illegal immigrants.

This initial transparency was immediately corrected by the Moncloa censorship: the message was deleted immediately from the official site and, since that 31st, the DSN website has not published any new news.

The details of the dismissal reveal the dictatorial methods employed by the Presidency:

The decision was made by General Loreto Hurtado, head of the Department of National Security, and communicated to the affected party via a phone call while she was enjoying her vacation.

The order came into effect on August 1 immediately, allowing the employee only to return to her office to "collect her personal belongings".

The "usual practice" of the Presidency has been broken; normally, it is customary to agree on the return of career officials to their original administration (in this case, the Ministry of Defense). However, the official has been left in a state of "available without destination", also suffering a "reduction in her pay".

This administrative abuse occurs in a context where the Government is overwhelmed and will have to "relocate hundreds of minors" in the peninsula within 15 days.

While international agencies like Reuters had already reported the figure of 49,000 before 10 a.m. on Friday, Sánchez's team preferred to punish the one who fulfilled her duty to inform about the "magnitude of the migration surge" and the "extraordinary dimensions" that the situation had reached.

This episode is further proof of how the socialist Government prioritizes political damage control over the transparency owed to the nation. Despite the fact that the President of the European Commission, Von der Leyen, has even congratulated Sánchez, she has also reproached him for "not using European support" during the crisis.
