The government relaunches the Voluntary Military Service with an educational and employment focus
The program aims to integrate young people aged 18 to 28, providing military training, vocational education, and completion of studies
The national government has introduced a comprehensive modification of the Voluntary Military Service, aiming to attract more young people who are currently neither studying nor working, and to offer them a broader education than one that is exclusively military. The decision was announced by presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni, who stated that the goal is to "instill in young Argentinians the high values that have always characterized the Armed Forces: effort, valor."
The program redesign includes raising the maximum entry age to 28 years old (previously 24) and coordination between the Ministry of Defense, led by Luis Petri, and the Ministry of Human Capital, headed by Sandra Pettovello. Both ministries will work on an educational pathway that combines military instruction with formal education and job training.
Comprehensive training and new requirements
One of the key conditions will be that applicants must have completed secondary education, or pursue it during their time in military units, through an intermediate educational system provided by Human Capital.
In addition, those who join will receive formal certification in trades such as cooking, mechanics, administration, masonry, welding, or driving, which is intended to facilitate their subsequent entry into the workforce.

Extended instruction and community tasks
The content and duration of military instruction will also be expanded, adding modules on emergency and disaster response, such as fires or floods. In this regard, the Ministry of Defense highlighted the recent participation of the Forces in operations in Bahía Blanca, Zárate, and Campana.
The program will continue to offer monthly remuneration, a year-end bonus, retirement contributions, medical coverage, and access to a health plan, in addition to promoting discipline and the development of camaraderie.

Educational continuity and gradual implementation
Those who complete the service may apply to continue their training at official institutions such as the Military College, the Non-Commissioned Officers School, or similar institutions, provided they meet the corresponding requirements.
Although the plan was signed by the involved ministries, its implementation will be gradual and doesn't yet have a precise date for entry into force.
