The new uniforms of the Penitentiary Service are made by the inmates.

This is part of the 'Manos a la Obra' program, which is part of a prison policy of 'Ocio Cero.'

The Minister of Homeland Security, Patricia Bullrich, presented the new uniforms of the Federal Penitentiary Service (SPF) on Wednesday, made directly by the inmates themselves. "The prison can't be a place of privileges or leisure funded by the efforts of Argentinians," she stated during her speech.

This initiative by the Government of Javier Milei represents an important step within the "new paradigm of order, productivity, and responsibility" promoted by the libertarian administration.

During the event, led by Minister Bullrich, the brand-new gray uniforms were showcased, made by the inmates in workshops set up within the penitentiary facilities. The "Hands to Work" program is part of a prison policy of "Zero Leisure," which promotes work as a tool for discipline, organization, and social reintegration.

"The prison can't be a place of privileges or leisure funded by the efforts of Argentinians. Every detainee must contribute with productive tasks. Those who don't work, don't get paid," the minister emphasized during her speech.

This time, more than 3,000 uniforms were delivered, which are part of a total production that exceeds 6,500 units, made in the penitentiary complexes of Marcos Paz, Güemes, Senillosa, Luján de Cuyo, Santa Rosa, Jujuy, and in the Women's Complex IV and Ezeiza VII.

Bullrich also posted a message on her official X account regarding this news: "NEW UNIFORMS FOR THE SPF, MADE BY THE INMATES!," she began by saying.

She also added: "Zero leisure. Order. Discipline. After 13 years, we deliver new uniforms to the penitentiaries. They no longer pay out of their pocket: the inmates make them within the Hands to Work program." She concluded: "The prison is not a rest. It's a debt to society. Those who do wrong, pay for it."

Alongside the minister were the Undersecretary of Penitentiary Affairs, Julián Curi, and the National Director of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Fernando Martínez. Through a screen located at the venue, live images of similar events held in other penitentiary complexes across the country were broadcasted.

At the end of the ceremony, the authorities visited the workshops where the inmates are currently working on the production of uniforms intended for all the staff of the Federal Penitentiary Service.
