Milei's government announced the launch of a Voluntary Military Service.
The measure was announced by presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni at a press conference
The national government announced the launch of a renewed Voluntary Military Service, focused on training young people with values and practical tools for their professional development. The initiative will be coordinated by the Ministries of Defense and Human Capital, and will be aimed at people between 18 and 28 years old.
According to presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni in his regular press conference, the objective is "to instill in young Argentines the high values that have always characterized the armed forces: effort, courage."
Training in trades and emergency tasks
Young people who enroll will receive basic military instruction, in addition to training in trades useful for their professional future, such as:
- Cooking
- Mechanics
- Security
Adorni also indicated that the emergency response component will be strengthened, through more weeks of instruction and training for disasters such as floods or fires.
The program already existed in a more limited format. Earlier this year, Ministers Luis Petri and Sandra Pettovello announced that a more comprehensive model would be pursued, combining technical, logistical, and educational training.

Currently, the incorporation of voluntary soldiers is carried out from 18 to 24 years old, allowing participants to access benefits such as:
- Monthly salary, annual bonus, and retirement contributions
- Medical coverage and health insurance
- Job training and experience for their civilian future
- Camaraderie and discipline in the Armed Forces environment

Investments of more than USD 6.6 billion in electrical infrastructure
Meanwhile, the presidential spokesperson also announced an ambitious plan of works to strengthen the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI), with the aim of mitigating power outages and improving energy infrastructure throughout the country.
- National and international tenders will be launched with private financing.
- The works will be paid for through users' bills, but only once they are operational.
- Total investment will exceed USD 6.6 billion.
The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, will sign a resolution in the coming days to establish the priority works, according to Adorni.

15 projects and 5,600 km (3,480 miles) of new lines
The plan includes:
- 15 projects in different regions of the country
- Expansion and construction of 500-kilowatt transformer stations
- Addition of more than 5,600 kilometers (3,480 miles) of new power lines
- An increase of 38% compared to the current network
"35% of electrical installations are already at the end of their useful life," explained Adorni. He added: "It is essential to move forward with these works in a country that has been a victim of energy populism in recent decades."
The government states that this investment package will not only improve service quality, but will also lay the foundation for new productive investments throughout the national territory.
