The Government reported possible foreign influence in the intelligence operation.

This would be a planned attack intended to generate chaos and misinformation, influencing the legislative elections

Javier Milei's government filed a formal complaint this Monday before the Federal Judiciary over an "illegal intelligence operation" aimed at spreading disinformation and destabilizing the Argentine electoral process. According to the filing, this would be a planned attack with alleged foreign interference, whose main objective would be to influence the upcoming legislative elections.

According to the official statement, the scheme consisted of the illegal capture of private audio recordings belonging to the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, as well as other high-ranking officials. The material was reportedly manipulated or disseminated gradually in order to sow suspicion, generate chaos, and spread disinformation to illegitimately influence the upcoming legislative elections.

"This is not a random leak, but a planned attack. It targets the very core of Argentine democracy: the electoral process," stated the text released by Casa Rosada.

According to Milei's government, the seriousness of the incident lies not only in the illegal nature of the practice, but also in the possibility that the recordings were made inside the Government House itself, which would constitute an unprecedented threat to institutional security and to the presidential office.

In the complaint, the Executive identified several individuals allegedly linked to the scheme. Among them are the Kirchnerist journalist Mauro Federico; the executive secretary of the Argentine Football Association (AFA) and media entrepreneur, Pablo Toviggino; the host Jorge Rial, who had recently stated publicly that "the president should be spied on"; and the lawyer Franco Bindi, identified as a judicial operator close to the former head of the Intelligence Secretariat Fernando Pocino.

The statement also points to the possible influence of foreign actors, emphasizing that the pattern of the operation is similar to disinformation campaigns attributed to Russian and Chavista interests in other countries, with the objective being to generate chaos and disinformation.

The National Intelligence Law in Argentina expressly prohibits agencies or individuals from conducting political espionage or manipulating public opinion through illegal activities. For this reason, the complaint requests urgent precautionary measures to halt the publication of new leaks and ensure the transparency of the electoral process.

Milei's government warned that the attack not only affects the officials directly involved, but also seeks to undermine society's trust in democratic institutions.
