The Government will promote laws in Congress to toughen penalties and defend private property

In addition, the Executive will move forward with amendments to the Glacier Law, with the purpose of strengthening the powers of provinces over their resources and promoting productive development in their territories. Added to this are changes in the Disability Act and in the university funding scheme, which will be revised to make their operation compatible with the objective of fiscal balance, one of the central pillars of the Government's economic policy

The legislative package was defined within the framework of a meeting of the political table of the ruling party, with the participation of key Executive officials and parliamentary representatives. The strategy aims to organize the legislative agenda and move forward with substantive reforms to consolidate a model based on respect for the law, economic freedom and fiscal responsibility.

In a context in which sectors of the opposition continue to resist structural changes, the Government seeks to transfer the discussion to Congress with proposals aimed at solving problems that have historically been neglected by politics.

The national Government decided to send a new package of bills to Congress, with the objective of advancing structural reforms aimed at strengthening security, guaranteeing private property and consolidating fiscal balance. The initiative is part of the transformation program promoted by President Javier Milei, in line with the mandate for change expressed by society in the last elections

One of the central points will be the amendment of the Criminal Code, with a strong tightening of penalties at all levels of the system. The proposal ranges from property crimes to the most serious crimes, and includes the addition of imprescriptibility for crimes such as homicide, sexual abuse, human trafficking and drug trafficking. The objective is to end impunity and to dismantle the revolving door scheme

In parallel, the package contemplates a series of reforms related to private property, considered by the Government as a fundamental pillar for economic development and investment. In this regard, changes will be promoted in the Expropriations Act, the Land Law, the Fire Management Act and domain regularization mechanisms for socio-urban integration.
