After a changing race at Silverstone, marked by incidents and mechanical issues towards the end, Charles Leclerc secured his first victory of the season at the British Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver inherited the lead after the pit stops of Andrea Kimi Antonelli and held on until the end to win ahead of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton.
The race started with a twist as soon as the lights went out. Antonelli, who had secured pole position, had a poor start and lost the lead to the Ferraris of Leclerc and Hamilton, while Russell climbed to fourth place.
In a frantic start, Oscar Piastri was also affected after a touch with Liam Lawson that damaged his front wing and forced him to pit, while Lando Norris was struggling to find rhythm and was running outside the top positions. Meanwhile, the young Italian regained ground as the laps went by and managed to overtake Hamilton to move into second place, although he could never close the gap to the leader.
Further back, Franco Colapinto delivered one of the best comebacks of the day. After starting from 19th position, the Argentine gained five places in the early laps and quickly positioned himself behind his teammate Pierre Gasly. With good pace, he overtook Esteban Ocon and then Carlos Sainz to move up to 12th, coming very close to the points zone before the first pit stop. His progress was steady during the first stint, taking advantage of the good performance of the Alpine on medium tires.

While Leclerc managed a lead of over a second over Hamilton, the Brit received a five-second penalty for jumping the start, a situation that facilitated Antonelli's advance to second place. Later on, Max Verstappen was the first of the leaders to change tires, in a strategy that began to alter the course of the race.
Alpine's strategy worked out for the Argentine driver again. After his stop on lap 23, he returned in 11th place and stayed in the fight for the top 10 as the race was reshuffled due to the leaders' pit stops and two Virtual Safety Car neutralizations. He even temporarily lost a position to Oliver Bearman when exiting the pits, although he regained it just a few meters later to stay ahead of the Brit.
Later, Leclerc returned to the lead when Antonelli made his stop, although the Mercedes driver was just seven seconds behind with tires ten laps fresher for the decisive phase. Behind them, an intense battle developed between Hamilton and Russell for third place, with several overtakes between the two before the Mercedes driver suffered a slow puncture that forced him to make an extra stop.
In the final stretch, the main changes occurred. Antonelli, who had briefly regained the lead thanks to a different strategy, suffered mechanical problems in his Mercedes and had to pit twice, dropping to tenth place. The team replaced the front wing and tires, but the issues continued, and they had to remove a deflector from the left front wheel, leaving him without a chance to fight for victory. Shortly after, Max Verstappen was out of the race after spinning at Stowe corner, an incident that forced the safety car to come out with just four laps remaining.
The neutralization lasted until the checkered flag, so there was no restart and Leclerc secured the win without any surprises, his first in almost two years, followed by Russell and Hamilton, who completed the podium. Further back in the standings were Lando Norris, Isack Hadjar, Liam Lawson, Arvid Lindblad, and Gabriel Bortoleto.
For his part, Colapinto also took advantage of the incidents and the five-second penalty applied to Antonelli for exceeding track limits. The Argentine crossed the finish line in tenth place but moved up to ninth after the Italian's sanction, earning two points for Alpine. Additionally, his teammate Pierre Gasly finished tenth, completing a positive day for the French team, which managed to place both of its drivers in the points zone.
