Great news for Córdoba: meat consumption is increasing and more exports are expected
Domestic demand increased in the first half of the year, and a higher export volume is expected in the second half
Domestic beef consumption in Argentina showed growth in the first six months of 2025. According to official data, 1.15 million tons (2.54 million pounds) were allocated to the local market, 114,000 tons (251,327 pounds) more than in 2024. This increase is the result of a growing supply and relatively stable prices at the counter.
In the same period, total production reached 1.52 million tons (3.35 million pounds), 1.8% more than in 2024. Although there was a decrease in exports of 85,000 tons (187,393 pounds) less than in the same period, this benefited the supply for the domestic market.
Per capita consumption in 2025 is approaching 50 kilos (110 pounds) annually, reflecting a recovery after years of declining purchasing power. This data highlights the stability in real terms of meat prices during the first half of the year.

Production and pregnancy rates in the Cuenca del Salado
The INTA Cuenca del Salado report indicated a pregnancy rate by palpation of 88.2% in fall 2025. This represents an improvement compared to 2024 and exceeds the historical average for 2018-2024. The survey covered 21 districts and 250,600 breeding females, almost 10% of the regional total.
The loss between pregnancy and weaning in 2025 was only 7.6%, better than the historical average of 11.2%. This reflects good body condition and better field conditions during spring 2024. These results anticipate an improvement in national livestock production.
At the national level, weaning in 2026 is projected to see a slight increase compared to the 14.5 million calves in 2025. Improvement in genetics and sustainable management are key factors for this positive trend.

Outlook for the second half of the year
For the second half of 2025, an upturn in exports is expected, driven by a favorable exchange rate and a reduction in export duties. International meat prices are reaching record levels.
Meanwhile, domestic demand could slow down or even decline due to increased export pressure. This phenomenon is common in markets with high global demand.
The purchasing power of wages in relation to meat showed a clear recovery. From the minimum of 90 kilos (198 pounds) in 2024, it reached higher levels that allow families to maintain stable consumption.

Benefits for Córdoba
The improvement in exports and livestock production is generating a positive impact on Córdoba's economy. The local agricultural sector is strengthening, increasing income and encouraging investment in technology and genetics.
Additionally, Córdoba is positioning itself as a key player in the national and international meat market. The province is leveraging its productive and logistical capacity to expand its participation and generate quality employment.
