A violent incident has shocked Santiago del Estero. A 20-year-old woman brutally attacked her mother after a family argument in which the woman asked her to look for a job to help with household expenses. The incident took place Monday afternoon in the Constitución neighborhood, in the provincial capital.
According to the police report, the victim, a mathematics teacher, contacted Women's and Family Police Station No. 2 around 4:30 p.m. to ask for help after being assaulted by her own daughter.
Minutes later, officers arrived at the home located in Block 28, where they found the woman visibly distressed, with injuries and signs of having been violently attacked.
According to the mother's account, everything escalated during a conversation that began as a routine suggestion: she suggested to her daughter that she start working to have her own income.
Far from taking it calmly, the young woman reacted with fury and, in the midst of a heated argument, grabbed a knife and inflicted a stab wound to her mother's chest.
In addition to the knife attack, the assailant also allegedly slapped her in the face and kicked her in the abdomen.
As a result of the blow, the woman lost her balance, fell onto a bed, and hit her head on the floor, remaining unconscious for several minutes.
When she regained consciousness, her daughter was no longer in the home.
Intense search following the arrest warrant
After receiving medical attention, the victim formally went to the police station to file a report. Meanwhile, prosecutor María del Pilar Gallo, who is in charge of the investigation, ordered the immediate arrest of the accused, who remained at large as of the close of this edition.
Authorities also requested footage from security cameras in the area to try to determine the young woman's route after fleeing the residence and to locate her whereabouts.
Judicial sources indicated that the incident was classified as attempted aggravated homicide due to the family relationship, a legal category that could carry a sentence of up to 15 years in prison. Meanwhile, the victim remains under medical observation, although she is out of danger.
