Portuguese forward for Liverpool, Diogo Jota, 28 years old, and his brother André, 26, died in a tragic traffic accident in the province of Zamora, Spain. Both were traveling together when their Lamborghini went off the road, causing a fire that consumed the vehicle and spread to the area.

The English club confirmed the newsand requested respect for the privacy of the family, friends, and teammates as they try to come to terms with an "unimaginable" loss. The fatal accident occurred while Jota was enjoying his vacation after having married Rute Cardoso just 11 days ago, mother of his three children, and on the eve of rejoining Liverpool's preseason.

Porto, the club where the brothers developed professionally, also expressed its sorrow with a message of condolences and wishes for them to rest in peace.

A career marked by talent
Diogo Jota was born in Porto and began at Gondomar before making the leap to Paços de Ferreira as a youth player. His talent caught the attention of Atlético de Madrid, which signed him in 2016. However, he never made his official debut for the Colchoneros and was loaned out to Porto and Wolverhampton.

He excelled at Wolves, which led Liverpool to invest 14 million euros to sign him in 2020. At Anfield, he played 182 matches and scored 65 goals, becoming Premier League champion this year, in addition to winning the 2022 FA Cup and two League Cups (2022-2024).

With the Portugal national team, he played 49 matches and was part of the team that won the Nations League in 2019and again in 2025, when they defeated Spain in the final on June 8.
