Hideo Kojima confirmed that Death Stranding 2 has completed its development and will arrive in June.
The game has reached the state known as gold, which means it is ready for release
Hideo Kojima, one of the most influential creatives in the video game industry, officially announced that Death Stranding 2 has completed its development stage.
The game has reached the state known as gold, which means it is ready for release. The highly anticipated title will be available starting June 26, initially as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
A Japanese ritual to celebrate the achievement
Through his social media, Kojima shared a series of images showing him celebrating with the Kojima Productions team. One of the most symbolic gestures was the painting of the second eye of a Daruma, a Japanese tradition that marks the fulfillment of an important goal.

"Thank you all for your support during this journey. We were finally able to finish Death Stranding 2," Kojima expressed in a message accompanied by photos of the studio. The creator also took the opportunity to highlight the collective effort of his team throughout the process, marked by the pandemic, technical innovations, and a script full of philosophy and symbolism.
Rumors debunked and significant improvements
The announcement of the final release puts to rest rumors about possible delays or a rushed development. The arrival at the gold phase also makes it clear that the game will not only be ready on time but will include important improvements over the first installment. Among the highlighted novelties, the team pointed out a renewal in the combat system, a more complex narrative, and new exploration mechanics.
Although not all details about the gameplay have been revealed yet, Kojima Productions assured that the experience will remain true to the contemplative and post-apocalyptic tone that characterized the first title.

The future of Kojima Productions
With the completion of Death Stranding 2, the studio already has other goals in sight. Currently, they are working on a new horror video game in collaboration with filmmaker Jordan Peele, and in partnership with Xbox. Additionally, they are advancing in the film adaptation of Death Stranding, marking an increasingly strong bet on the crossover between video games and cinema.
"We want to continue expanding the ways of storytelling, both in video games and movies," Kojima recently declared. This vision reaffirms his commitment to narrative innovation and the expansion of his creative brand beyond traditional gaming.
