Emilia Mernes consolidated her place as one of the most prominent figures in Argentine pop after breaking streaming records on digital platforms during 2024. In the midst of a promotional tour, she traveled to Mexico to strengthen her presence in the Latin American market.

During her time in that country, she participated in several interviews with local media. One of them, on the show Exa Backstage, caused an unexpected viral moment that sparked laughter among social media users due to a linguistic misunderstanding.

The meeting with host Cristian “Kinky” Arteaga took place in a relaxed atmosphere, where the artist talked about her roots, her childhood in Nogoyá, and her family of bakers. In that context, Emilia fondly remembered the family business, which is still active, and shared personal anecdotes.

The "tortita negra," the blooper, and the double entendre

In a part of the conversation, the performer of “Exclusive.mp3” was asked which pastry would represent her. Without hesitation, she chose a "tortita negra" and said humorously: “That's a headline.” Then, she described its components: “It has lard biscuit and brown or blonde sugar. It's perfect because of the mix of salty and sweet.”

The complication arose when Arteaga tried to joke about it. In a jovial tone, he said: “Family, put Emilia's special black conc...” Unknowingly, he used a Mexican expression for a local pastry that in Argentina has a vulgar connotation referring to female genitalia.

The phrase surprised Mernes, who immediately reacted with a laugh. Far from being uncomfortable, she corrected the host with laughter: “How black conc...? Stop! The black cake...” And she added, amused: “In Argentina, it means vagina. Emilia's black conc... is a lot!”

Crossed reactions and shared humor

The moment was captured on video and quickly went viral on social platforms, where users from different countries reacted to the cultural misunderstanding. Arteaga tried to justify the term by explaining that in Mexico “conc...” is the name of a typical pastry, which helped to calm the confusion.

Emilia, far from being upset, understood the cross of meanings and closed the moment kindly: “It's understandable because they're your pastries! It's very good.” The exchange, far from creating tension, reflected the artist's charisma and her ability to handle unexpected situations naturally.

Emilia Mernes continues her international expansion

Beyond the viral episode, the singer maintained her promotional schedule firmly. Recently, she presented her participation in the remix of “Motinha 2.0,” by Brazilian DJ Dennis, a track that revisits the classic “Dança da Motinha,” a hit in the year 2000.

This collaboration in Portuguese aligned with her latest release, “Bunda,” which alongside Luísa Sonza reached number one on Spotify Argentina after surpassing 306,000 streams. Thus, Emilia Mernes continued her unstoppable rise in the Latin American music scene.
