The Argentine Tennis Association (AAT) confirmed on Wednesday a news that will mark a milestone for national tennis: the series between Argentina and Turkey for the World Group I of the Davis Cup will be held in Neuquén. The match will take place on September 19 and 20 at the Ruca Che stadium, which will host a knockout round of the traditional team competition for the first time.
This designation makes Neuquén the first Patagonian venue to host a Davis Cup series and the southernmost location used by the Argentine team in the history of the tournament. In this way, the province joins the list that includes Buenos Aires City, Buenos Aires Province, Mendoza, Córdoba, San Juan, and Santa Fe as hosts of national team matches.
The Ruca Che stadium, with a capacity for 3,500 spectators, features fast surface and indoor conditions, characteristics that were decisive for the choice of venue. There, the team led by Javier Frana will seek to return to victory and secure a place in the 2027 Qualifiers.
The series will also hold special significance for the Argentine captain, as it will be his first home appearance since taking over the team's leadership. Additionally, the national team will attempt to achieve a historic milestone: reaching 100 victories in the Davis Cup (currently accumulating 99 wins and 75 losses).
Argentina will face this stage after having fallen to South Korea in the first round of the 2026 Qualifiers, a result that forced them to compete in World Group I. On the other side will be Turkey, which advanced after defeating Slovenia as a visitor and will seek to pull off an upset despite having a team without players ranked among the top 300 in the individual ranking.

The Argentine team, on the other hand, is currently experiencing an encouraging situation in terms of player depth. It has ten players within the Top 100 of the ATP singles ranking, a figure that places it among the nations with the greatest representation in the world elite. This is complemented by a strong presence in doubles, led by Horacio Zeballos, recent two-time champion of Roland Garros and current top 3 in the world in the category.
The series will also take place in a special year for Argentine tennis, as it marks ten years since the historic Davis Cup victory achieved in 2016. With that precedent as inspiration, the national team will seek to take a new step towards returning to the highest stage of the competition.
