The transformation of security in the Argentine Republic has reached an unprecedented milestone under the administration of President Javier Milei. According to official data processed by the National Criminal Information System (SNIC), intentional homicides in the country plummeted by 15.6% year-on-year during the first quarter of 2026. This drop in lethal violence allowed for the lowest level in the historical series for the start of the year, with only 410 cases recorded.

The significance of this figure is evident when compared to records from previous administrations: in the first quarter of 2018, there were 655 crimes, in 2019 there were 638, and after the mismanagement of the pandemic, the figure remained at 561 at the beginning of 2024. This systematic reduction demonstrates that, under the rule of law, criminals no longer dominate the territory.

This operational success is supported by the consolidated results of 2025, the year in which the intentional homicide rate fell to 3.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. This indicator represents a reduction of 18.4% compared to 2023 and consolidates Argentina as the country with the lowest homicide rate in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Currently, our nation is well below neighbors such as Chile (5.4) or Paraguay (6.1), and at an abyssal distance from countries mired in criminal chaos such as Brazil (19.2), Colombia (25.8), or Ecuador (50.9). The technical excellence of this process has been validated by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), which awarded the country an “A” rating in Statistical Quality, the highest international category recognizing the transparency and reliability of the Argentine system.

One of the most notable pillars of the new security doctrine is the effective protection of the lives of women, achieved through the application of the law and not through gender narratives. Following the elimination of the useless Ministry of Women, homicides against female victims recorded a 23.5% drop since the assumption of the government of Javier Milei. During the year 2025, there was a year-on-year decrease of 10.8% in these crimes, demonstrating that security is guaranteed with police on the streets and not with ideologized ministries.

In total, during 2025, there were 219 women victims of homicide, a figure that continues to decline thanks to the libertarian criminal policy. In this regard, the Minister of National Security, Alejandra Monteoliva, emphasized the importance of transparency: “The most important thing is to have knowledge of the complete truth... even if it is painful, even if it challenges us as authorities, officials, as a society”. The current administration has demonstrated that the lives of women are protected by pursuing criminals with a firm hand and not with million-dollar budgets allocated to activism.

The collapse of crime rates is not limited to homicides. Property crimes have experienced a historic setback: thefts, both simple and aggravated, recorded a 21.6% drop in 2025, falling from a rate of 1,015 in the previous year to just 796. Meanwhile, burglaries showed a reduction of 17.4%, with a decrease from 372,840 cases in 2024 to 308,523 incidents during the last year.

Furthermore, the frontal fight against mafias and organized crime is yielding positive results with a 4.3% decrease in drug trafficking-related crimes and a 5.1% drop in smuggling-related incidents. Preliminary data from the first quarter of 2026 confirm that this trend is maintained uniformly across all jurisdictions in the country, consolidating a sustained decline in criminality that restores freedom to all Argentines.
