YPF president and CEO Horacio Marín was one of the main speakers at Gastech, the world's most important conference on natural gas, LNG, and energy, held in Milan from September 9 to 12. There, he highlighted the potential of Vaca Muerta as a driving force to position Argentina among the major global players in the energy industry.
"Our goal is to be a 2 million barrels of oil equivalent per day operator and to rank among the 20 largest companies in the world," Marín stated during his presentation.
Argentina LNG: the largest infrastructure investment

YPF presented the progress of Argentina LNG, a comprehensive project to industrialize gas and export between 24 and 30 million tons of LNG annually. "It is the largest infrastructure investment in the country's history," the head of YPF emphasized.
According to his explanation, progress has already been made on projects under the leasing modality with secured investment decisions, and the pipeline is expected to begin construction in April 2026. The plan includes the arrival of the first ship in 2029, with strategic partners such as Eni and Shell.
International markets and new opportunities

Marín emphasized that YPF's partner companies also act as offtakers, which guarantees the placement of a large part of LNG production. However, he anticipated that Europe, Asia, and Japan represent key markets to expand Argentina's exports.
The executive also pointed out that the new macroeconomic context creates favorable conditions to move forward with large-scale energy projects. "Argentina has a historic opportunity to establish itself as a global energy exporter," he asserted.
