Spider-Man: Brand New Day grossed an estimated 927 million dollars in its worldwide opening weekend, coming very close to breaking the record set by Avengers: Endgame. This figure makes it the second highest box office debut in history.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film even exceeded the highest expectations ahead of its July 31 release. Although it did not surpass Endgame, it secured the best opening of the year in theaters.

Domestically, the new Spider-Man film grossed an estimated 355 million dollars in 4,487 theaters across the United States, while its international total reached 572 million dollars.
With these numbers, the film secured the best opening in history for a Sony or Spider-Man movie, although it still falls short of what was achieved by Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
How close it was to surpassing Avengers: Endgame
Avengers: Endgame debuted with 357.1 million dollars domestically (just 2 million more than Spider-Man: Brand New Day) and a global figure of 1.2 billion dollars.
Tom Holland, present in both films, comes out a winner either way, although the new Spider-Man movie came in second place in both categories. However, the box office calculations correspond to weekend estimates, while totals from Sunday are still being finalized: the domestic race remains very tight and a small uptick could allow Spider-Man to snatch the crown from Endgame in the coming days.
Despite not taking the global top spot, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already achieved two other records: the highest pre-sale ticket sales in history and the highest single-day opening sales in history.
The best box office weekend in U.S. history
Beyond the individual result of the film, the weekend between July and August 2026 became the largest in the history of the domestic box office, with a combined gross of 430 million dollars among all films in theaters, according to data from Variety.
