Important resolution by the Federal Health Council presided over by Mario Lugones
Together with the ministers of the provinces, it was agreed that starting in 2026, each province will administer and finance its own Medical Residency entrance exams
The National Minister of Health, Mario Lugones, presided over a new Federal Health Council together with ministers from other provinces.
In an important resolution, together with the provincial ministers, it was agreed that starting in 2026 each province will administer and finance its own entrance exams for Medical Residencies, thus defining the specialties according to their own needs.

"Health is jurisdictional. Exams must also be jurisdictional. Only each province knows what type of doctors it needs for its population. This was the last group of doctors whose residency scholarships were financed by the Nation. From now on, the exams will be administered and financed by the jurisdictions," Lugones stated.
Other topics addressed:
- Purchases of high-cost medications: faster processes, savings of USD 40 million, and record delivery times.
- Progress in Dietary Guidelines adapted to each region.
- Survey of artificial colorants in processed foods.
- Actions in response to the measles outbreak and strengthening of vaccination.
- Epidemiological surveillance of suicide with mandatory reporting.

None of the doctors who retook the Residency Exam validated their score
The National Government reported that none of the 117 doctors who retook the Unified Residency Exam managed to validate their score.
The test was conducted at Palacio Libertad and was convened after irregularities were detected in the first evaluation held on July 1.

According to Adorni, 109 of the applicants were foreigners and were part of the group that remained under observation due to suspicious results.
Origin of the new exam
The second instance was organized after possible cases of fraud were detected in the first test.
The authorities decided to reconvene all the applicants involved to ensure the transparency of the process.
