The Avellaneda club confirmed the identification of violent fans and will request their lifetime ban from admission

The violence that marred the match between Independiente and Universidad de Chile in the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana round of 16 continues to generate repercussions.

Meanwhile, CONMEBOL has not yet decided the future of the series (the match was canceled after the incidents), and Rojo issued an official statement reporting that it identified 25 violent fans responsible for the brutal attack in the visiting stands.

"Thanks to the information provided by our institution and the joint work with APreViDe, 25 of the criminals who participated in the acts of violence that occurred in our stadium have already been identified," the club announced.

They also confirmed immediate measures: "They will be expelled as members immediately, and we will request the application of a lifetime admission ban, so that they never set foot in a soccer stadium again."

The management also assured that they will continue advancing with the investigations: "There will be no exceptions or privileges: whoever chose violence chose to stand against Independiente."

CONMEBOL's report and new accusations

Meanwhile, an initial report from CONMEBOL revealed more troubling information for Independiente. The file includes the testimonies of referee Gustavo Tejera, delegate Michael Sánchez Alvarenga, and the organization's security officer.

In those statements, the violence initiated by the Chilean supporters is acknowledged "from the warm-up," but the Bonaerense Police is also criticized for refusing to intervene despite repeated requests from the organization.

In addition, a direct accusation against the club arises: in the safety meeting held beforehand, Independiente was reportedly advised not to open the South Lower tier due to the risk of clashes, but Rojo allegedly replied that it had already been sold and promised to reinforce private security, something that was not fulfilled.
