India's armed forces attacked several targets within Pakistan under the name 'Operation Sindoor' and a full-scale war is imminent

In a high-precision military operation called Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces have carried out airstrikes against nine targets considered terrorist camps located both in Pakistan and in the region of Kashmir administered by Pakistan (PoK).

The offensive represents a direct response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 25 Indian citizens and a Nepali were killed. The first three confirmed targets were a mosque, a Muslim school, and an Air Force base of Pakistan.

The operation was officially announced by the Public Information Bureau (PIB) of the Government of India, which highlighted that the attacks were "targeted, measured, and non-escalatory."

According to the statement, India intentionally avoided attacking other Pakistani military installations, focusing solely on targets from which attacks against Indian territory have been planned or directed.

The trigger for the operation was the attack in Pahalgam, which occurred days earlier, shocking Indian public opinion due to its brutality and high number of civilian casualties.

The Indian government labeled the attack as "barbaric" and promised to hold those responsible accountable. With Operation Sindoor, India seeks to demonstrate its determination to act against cross-border terrorism without engaging in open warfare.

One of the most notable aspects of the operation was the attack on a target in Bahawalpur, a major city in the Punjab province, deep inside Pakistan, more than 400 km from Islamabad.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the target might have been a madrasa associated with Maulvi Masood Azhar, leader of the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), considered responsible for numerous attacks on Indian soil.

If confirmed, this attack would mark a significant escalation in India's strategy, taking the conflict beyond the usual disputed areas in Kashmir.

Residents of Muzaffarabad, the capital of the Pakistan-controlled region of Kashmir, reported multiple explosions near midnight, although it has not yet been officially confirmed if these detonations were the result of Indian bombings.

Images are circulating on social media about the sites hit, but Pakistani authorities have not yet issued a detailed statement on the extent of the damage or possible casualties.

The Indian government has emphasized that the operation was designed to avoid a direct military escalation. New Delhi's message has been clear: the attacks are not against Pakistan as a state, but against specific infrastructures used by terrorist groups to launch attacks against India.

The measured tone of the official statement suggests that India seeks to contain the situation within certain limits, avoiding conventional warfare, but without leaving terrorist attacks on its territory unpunished.

The international community is closely monitoring this new escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan, two nuclear powers with a long history of conflicts, especially in the Kashmir region.

So far, there has been no formal response from Islamabad, but Pakistani authorities are expected to issue a statement in the coming hours. A detailed briefing has also been announced by the Indian Ministry of Defense, in which satellite images and intelligence data on the targets hit are expected to be presented.
