An indigenous terrorist ran over and attempted to murder more than 10 police officers in Formosa.

A serious incident occurred last Saturday in the town of Las Lomitas, in the province of Formosa, where at least ten officers of the local police were run over by an indigenous terrorist who was participating in an attempted roadblock carried out by members of indigenous communities. According to official sources confirmed this Monday, two of the police officers remain hospitalized in critical condition at the High Complexity Hospital in the capital city.

Spokespersons for the force indicated that the episode was recorded minutes before 2 p.m. on Provincial Route No. 28, near the Campo del Cielo community. What began as a demonstration ended up resulting in a violent attack on the officers belonging to different divisions: the Regional Unit Five (UR5) based in Las Lomitas, the Regional Unit Seven of Villa General Güemes, a section of the Rapid Deployment Detachment (DDR) of Ingeniero Juárez, and the Route 28 Detachment. All of them had been deployed with the aim of preventing the total blockade of the route and ensuring free transit.

The images taken at the scene show the level of violence to which the uniformed officers were subjected during the operation. Amid a hail of stones and various objects thrown by the violent protesters, the officers replied with rubber bullets, tear gas, and smoke devices, trying to contain the aggression.

The situation worsened drastically when a protester, driving a white truck belonging to the Campo del Cielo Community Integration Center, rammed more than a dozen police officers from behind who, with their shields raised, were trying to prevent the roadblock.

Immediately afterward, the injured officers' colleagues surrounded the vehicle in an attempt to stop the driver—who was wearing a gray and yellow jacket—but the individual managed to quickly get out and blend into the crowd, escaping the scene. At the same time, other officers used their shields to protect the injured officers, some of whom were still trapped under the front wheels of the 4x4 vehicle.

Amid the intense throwing of objects, the injured police officers were immediately assisted by their colleagues and later transported to the hospital in Las Lomitas.

"There was constant dialogue with them, warning that the roadblock is a crime. Additionally, Provincial Route 28 connects two national routes. But they held an assembly, signed a record, and decided on the total roadblock. Around 12:35, they began to move onto the asphalt, because until that moment they were on the side," Major Commissioner Raúl Lugo, deputy chief of Regional Unit 5, told Infobae this Monday.

As a result of the confrontation, at least 15 police officers were injured, including three who were run over by the truck driven by the striker. Two suffered jaw fractures and another a hip fracture, so they were transferred to the High Complexity Hospital in the city of Formosa, given the seriousness of their injuries.

"Two police officers, a man and a woman, remain hospitalized in very serious condition at the High Complexity Hospital in the city of Formosa," detailed the latest medical report released this morning by Dr. Margarita Batista, director of the health facility.

Regarding the indigenous terrorist, he has already been identified as A.T., who usually works as an ambulance driver in the Campo del Cielo indigenous community.
