They prosecuted left-wing congresswoman Vanina Biasi for anti-Semitic expressions

An embargo was also ordered on Biasi's assets for an amount of 10 million pesos

Federal judge Daniel Rafecas today ordered the indictment of national deputy and anti-Semite Vanina Biasi, a member of the Left and Workers' Front - Workers' Party (FIT-U PO), for violation of the Anti-Discrimination Law 23.592.

The decision is based on a series of posts made on the social network X, in which the legislator equated the State of Israel with the Nazi regime, also attributing a genocidal character to it, and drawing parallels between the conflict in the Middle East and the Holocaust.

According to the magistrate, the set of offensive expressions toward the Jewish community far exceeds the limits of freedom of expression. He also noted that the accused can't ignore the particular context of Argentina, a country that was a victim of two attacks motivated by anti-Semitism.

Rafecas also ordered a seizure of Biasi's assets for an amount of 10 million pesos. If this resolution is upheld, the deputy, who is currently running as a Buenos Aires legislator, will have to face a public oral trial for the aforementioned events.

In one of her posts on X, Biasi wrote: "Thousands suffering because Emily had been murdered and finally it was all a construction of the Zionist narrative that cares little about people's lives and their suffering".

In another intervention, she stated: "the Zionist state is Nazi in its practices and ideology and I understand that a propagandist of a terrorist, genocidal, and child-killing state is bothered to read it, but their bullying won't silence me".

In another of her messages, she asserted: "The massacre of the Palestinian people continues. The complicit silence of economic and media power continues. Zionism is genocide. Zionism is apartheid. Zionism is the construction of a false narrative in which the occupier is the victim and the occupied the victimizer". The legislator was summoned for an investigative statement last year at the Comodoro Py courts, and today Judge Rafecas solved her procedural situation.

Meanwhile, the judge noted in his ruling: "The right to freedom of expression is not absolute, as it can be legitimately limited when it conflicts with other essential rights. In this sense, statements that promote hatred, violence, or discrimination may fall outside its protection, as they undermine democratic values and the rights of others".

"The eight publications identified in this resolution do not pass the analysis that would allow them to be considered within the scope of the legitimate exercise of the right to freedom of expression", evaluated the magistrate, adding that these messages "would encourage or incite persecution or hatred against the Jewish community, violating the principles of equality and non-discriminatory treatment".
