Insecurity in province: an 86-year-old retiree died of a heart attack during a robbery
Meanwhile, Kicillof looks the other way, Silvio Keropian died of a heart attack during a robbery in Ituzaingó
In a province where insecurity has become an unbearable constant, two recent episodes starkly expose the consequences of Axel Kicillof's institutional ineffectiveness. Both have retirees as victims, the most vulnerable citizens of our social fabric, condemned to absolute abandonment by an administration that doesn't want to guarantee the most basic: security.
The first incident occurred on Tuesday, April 16 in the district of Ituzaingó. Silvio Keropian,86 years old, was found lifeless inside his home located on Padre Mascardi Street at 1900. The man, widowed for two years, lived alone. That day, neighbors noticed that his house door was open and, suspecting a criminal act, alerted 911.
Upon arrival, officers from Ituzaingó's 1st Police Station found Keropian with no vital signs, sitting in a chair. The scene around him was clear: everything was in disarray. Initial investigations confirmed that there were no signs of physical violence. The man died of a heart attack in the middle of the robbery. The house's openings were not forced, suggesting that the criminals entered without needing to force anything and fled leaving the door open.
The only solid lead investigators have is a video from a security camera. The footage shows a Fiat Siena car from which five hooded individuals descend. The images are in black and white, making it difficult to identify the vehicle's color and read the license plate. Prosecutor Marcelo Tavolaro from Ituzaingó's decentralized UFI No. 1 is in charge of the investigation. The material has already been incorporated into the case, and they are seeking to compare it with other cameras in the area to reconstruct the suspects' escape route. It has not yet been determined what items were stolen, as the victim did not use debit cards or other banking means.
Meanwhile, just days after this incident, another episode highlights the total breakdown of the security network in the suburbs. On Friday, April 11, around 1:30 PM, a 22-year-old young man ran over a 70-year-old retiree with his motorcycle in Villa Fiorito, Lomas de Zamora district, while trying to escape after committing a robbery.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Nuñez de Arce and Pilcomayo streets. A sergeant and an officer from the Patrol Command were conducting a preventive patrol when they received a 911 alert. Upon arrival, they found a group of neighbors who had subdued the visibly beaten criminal. According to witnesses, during the escape, the young man ran over the retiree at the intersection of Falleres and Necol.
The man who was run over suffered an open fracture in his right leg and multiple facial injuries. He was assisted by an ambulance and taken to Gandulfo Hospital. The motorcycle used by the striker, a Brava Nevada 110 with no visible license plate, was found lying on the asphalt.
