Meanwhile, the homicide rate at the national level fell sharply thanks to the successful security policy of the Government of Javier Milei, the Public Ministry of the Province of Buenos Aires released a report indicating La Matanza, a stronghold of Kirchnerism, as the district with the highest level of violence in terms of insecurity.
According to the data presented, this area of the western suburbs, bordering the City of Buenos Aires, recorded 155 homicides in 2024, compared to 144 registered in 2023, representing an increase of more than 7%.
If a list of the municipalities with the highest murder rate were drawn up, La Matanza under Kirchnerist Fernando Espinoza would occupy the first place, concentrating 17.6% of the cases.
Behind are Moreno and General Rodríguez with 8.11%, followed by Lomas de Zamora with 6.07% and San Martín with 5.87%, all considered as areas with high levels of homicides.

Homicides in PBA
The same report presented a detailed statistic that classifies the types of crimes and the circumstances in which they were committed. In this line, it indicates that during 2024, 1,896 investigations for intentional homicides were initiated throughout the province of Buenos Aires. Of that total, 42.9% correplied to completed cases, while the remaining 57.1% were attempted homicides.
The survey also reveals that among the fatal victims there were 709 men and 139 women. The majority of the murders occurred in public places (56.8%), while 33.7% took place inside private homes.
Regarding the means used, 59.1% of the homicides were committed with firearms. In contrast, 19% were committed using blunt objects, knives, physical force, or fire.

Of the total of 1,168 people charged in these cases, a large majority (92.3%) were adults, while minors represented only 7.7% of those involved.
Finally, considering Greater Buenos Aires and large urban centers like La Plata and Mar del Plata, a homicide rate of 5.48 victims per 100,000 inhabitants was recorded, well above the national average. In La Matanza, that figure rose to 8.11 per 100,000 people.
