Insecurity: A young man was murdered for his cell phone and 500 pesos (1.1 pounds) in Córdoba
Ignacio Villagra's mother demands justice after her son was found dead with a gunshot wound in Córdoba
Ignacio Villagra, a 22-year-old, was found dead in the Empalme neighborhood, Córdoba, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The main hypothesis is that it was a robbery in which the victim tried to resist. The investigation, led by the District 2, Turn 1 prosecutor's office, is proceeding with secrecy, and there are still no arrests in the case.
His mother, Marisa, recounted on the Arriba Córdoba program how her last conversation with her son went. "He said goodbye to me by telling me he was going to see his friends and that he'd return early because he had a job interview," she commented through tears. Ignacio had been looking to change jobs and had an interview scheduled for the following day.
Marisa indicated that the last time she spoke with Ignacio was around 10:00 p.m., when he told her he'd be home soon. However, at 5:00 a.m., the police knocked on her door to inform her about the murder. "They didn't steal anything from him; he had his wallet with 500 pesos," she stated, visibly affected.

The robbery hypothesis and Villagra's resistance: the mother demands clear answers
Marisa Villagra maintained that her son probably tried to prevent his cell phone from being stolen, which contained the information for his job interview. According to her account, Ignacio usually walked between his home and the area where his friends lived. "I think Ignacio resisted because he had the documents for the interview," Marisa said, who is still waiting for answers from the authorities.
The prosecutor's office continues to investigate the case and is analyzing the report of a neighbor who claims to have been assaulted an hour earlier in the same place. The neighbor described the assailants as three armed, hooded individuals who beat him and stole his cell phone and wallet. The incident, which appears to be related to Ignacio's murder, highlights the growing insecurity in the area.
Marisa, heartbroken, demands justice for her son and continues to wait for Ignacio's body to be released so she can give him a proper farewell. "They killed him when it was going to be his happy day. He was about to start his life at a new company," she concluded.
