The Inter-American Development Bank works with the IMF to support the government

IDB is betting heavily on Milei and next week the authorities will meet

In a new support for Javier Milei's administration, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) expressed its backing for the agreement between Argentina and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), within the framework of the 65th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the organization in Santiago, Chile.

The Secretary of Finance, Pablo Quirno, held a key meeting with the IDB President, Ilan Goldfajn, who expressed his explicit support for Argentina's economic strategy.

"The IDB is committed to supporting Argentina within the framework of the joint strategy and its projects in the country, in coordination with the IMF and the World Bank, and the measures that the Argentine government is implementing," stated Goldfajn.

From the Ministry of Economy, they highlighted the importance of this signal of international confidence: "This support is part of a strategic coordination with the IMF and the World Bank, aiming to ensure a solid and consistent implementation of the new economic agreement."

Meanwhile, the multilateral organizations recognize that the course adopted by Milei's administration is the correct one to heal the economy and generate sustainable growth.

Additionally, key topics were addressed such as the financing of private investment projects and regional integration, with special emphasis on the '‘Southern Connection’' initiative. Argentine support for the capitalization of IDB Invest and the regional initiative '‘Prepared and Resilient in the Americas’' was also reaffirmed.

The Minister of Economy, Luis ''Toto'' Caputo, announced that Argentina is in the midst of negotiating a loan with the IMF for 20 billion dollars and is advancing in agreements with the World Bank, the IDB, and the CAF to strengthen reserves, with the ambitious goal of reaching 50 billion dollars. This reinforcement would allow for the consolidation of the peso's stability and give a new boost to economic recovery.

The support from the IDB and other international organizations disproves the detractors who predicted financial isolation. On the contrary, the world bets on Milei's Argentina, recognizing that his leadership and structural reforms are the path to a competitive country.

Next week, IDB authorities will meet with Argentine government officials to finalize the economic correlation agreement.
