Bolsonaro appeared with the electronic ankle monitor imposed on him by Brazil's dictatorship.

Brazil's Supreme Court, an ally of Lula da Silva, imposed authoritarian measures against the former president on Friday

Former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, currently a politically persecuted and banned individual through a false judicial process for an alleged "attempted coup d'état," publicly displayed his electronic ankle monitor this Monday before photographers, after holding a meeting with legislators from his party, the Liberal Party (PL). “This here is a symbol of utmost humiliation,” he declared.

The Supreme Court of Brazil, which has judges who are friends of the socialist dictator Lula da Silva, imposed authoritarian measures against Bolsonaro on Friday as part of the case investigating an alleged attempt to overturn the results of the 2022 elections, in which Lula da Silva committed clear electoral fraud to win.

The measures include the placement of an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet, the prohibition of using his social media accounts, the prohibition of communicating with his son, Eduardo Bolsonaro, and with any foreign diplomat, and the prohibition of approaching embassies.

The former Brazilian president is falsely accused of leading a conspiracy against Lula da Silva. If he is found guilty, he could face a sentence of up to 40 years in prison. Lula's dictatorship is pushing the case against Bolsonaro because it seeks to ban him, since the former president has a high voting intention and is capable of defeating him in the 2026 elections.

During his meeting with PL deputies, Bolsonaro analyzed possible lines of political action in the face of the authoritarian process he is facing. “Cowardice is what they're doing to the former president of the Republic. We're going to face everything and everyone. What matters to me is God's law. This here is a symbol of utmost humiliation,” he stated while raising his right leg to display the ankle monitor.

This is the first time Bolsonaro has agreed to show the monitoring device. An image of it was also shared on social media by federal deputy Maurício do Vôlei. “The greatest injustice in the history of this country. I'm not going to give up on our Brazil,” the deputy wrote on his social media.

The judiciary also imposed on the former president the prohibition of communicating with his son Eduardo Bolsonaro, who is currently living in the United States after threats from the Brazilian judiciary to arrest him. The legislator is also being unjustly investigated for his alleged role as an intermediary in favor of punitive measures promoted by Donald Trump's administration against Brazil.
