La Libertad Avanza (LLA) reached a central milestone in parliamentary dynamics this Tuesday: it became the largest minority in the Chamber of Deputies by gathering 95 members, surpassing Unión por la Patria (UP) by two. The strategic move not only guarantees greater presence in the committees, but also organizes the legislative board ahead of the key votes in 2025.
The confirmation came when the governor of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, fulfilled his political commitment and facilitated the departure of three Catamarcan deputies from the Peronist bloc. That gesture finished consolidating the necessary number for Martín Menem to celebrate the internal victory that the ruling party needed to face the new legislative stage with strength.
Jalil's political contribution
The decision by Jalil was decisive. Deputies Fernando Monguillot, Fernanda Ávila, and Sebastián Nóblega formalized their departure from Unión por la Patria and moved forward with the formation of the new space Elijo Catamarca. With those three indirect incorporations, the ruling party reached the number it was seeking.
Meanwhile, the governor of Entre Ríos, Rogelio Frigerio, sent a signal of support by collaborating with the situation of deputy Francisco Morchio (Encuentro Federal). That support ultimately secured the final result and ensured that LLA surpassed UP in number.
In turn, the space had been strengthened in previous days with the arrival of Verónica Razzini and Alejandro Bongiovani, both from PRO, and with the resignation of Silvia Lospennato, which enabled the entry of Lorena Petrovich.
