The governor of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, confirmed that President Javier Milei will visit the province at the end of October to tour the new lithium projects that began to be developed under the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI). The visit had been scheduled for these weeks but had to be postponed due to weather conditions in the mountainous area.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of the solar park of the company Arcor in Recreo, where the provincial leader also anticipated the arrival of the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, and the Chief of Cabinet, Diego Santilli, to advance a joint agenda on infrastructure and productive development.

Jalil explained that the President will visit the mining ventures that have begun production thanks to the incentive scheme promoted by the national government.

"The President's visit was postponed due to bad weather in the mountains for the month of October, to see the new lithium plants within the RIGI that are about to be inaugurated", stated the governor.

Additionally, he highlighted the growth that the mining activity is experiencing in the province.

"We have four lithium carbonate plants that are already entering production, of which three are RIGI and one we share with Salta", he specified.

The presidential visit aims to showcase one of the main results of the investment promotion policy driven by Milei's administration, which has made the RIGI one of the central tools to attract large productive projects and consolidate the development of strategic sectors such as mining.

Caputo and Santilli will arrive in Catamarca to advance strategic works

The governor also confirmed that this Thursday the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, and the Chief of Cabinet, Diego Santilli, will arrive in the province to continue coordinating infrastructure projects with the national government.

"The minister Caputo will probably be arriving next Thursday with the Chief of Cabinet. We are working on several projects, such as the Free Trade Zone for Tinogasta, Route 157, and Route 38", Jalil pointed out.

The provincial leader also highlighted the progress of important hydraulic works financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), aimed at improving water supply in eastern Catamarca.

As he explained, the new aqueduct will supply both Catamarca and Santiago del Estero and will begin to be executed in the coming months.

Jalil supported private investment and distanced himself from Quintela

In economic matters, Jalil announced that he is working with the national government to eliminate the collection of Gross Income from all industrial activity in the province, with the aim of improving competitiveness and attracting new investments.

"We want the rule to be that in Catamarca, industrialists do not pay Gross Income", he affirmed.

On the other hand, the governor also marked differences with the recent statements of the Riojan Ricardo Quintela, who had suggested the possibility of reviewing projects approved under the RIGI in the event of a change of government.

Jalil defended a model of cooperation between the public and private sectors and championed the role of investments in generating employment and growth.

"We work a lot between the public and private sectors. We protect private investments and know that it is the private sector that generates employment and improves the economy of the province", he concluded.

The upcoming visit of Javier Milei to Catamarca will seek to consolidate that message and showcase the progress of the lithium projects that are beginning to transform the province into one of the main mining hubs in the country thanks to the new framework of stability and incentives promoted by the national government.
