During his tour of New York, the governor of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, held a strategic meeting with executives from Río Tinto Lithium to consolidate key investments in the province.
The meeting focused on the progress of the Sal de Vida project and the development of essential infrastructure for the mining sector.
Investments of USD 638 million in Catamarca
The provincial leader met with Paul Graves, CEO of Río Tinto Lithium, and Paula Uribe, director for External Affairs in Latin America of the company. The Argentine consul general in New York, Gerardo Díaz Bartolomé, also participated. During the conversation, they reviewed the current state of investments in Catamarca, especially in relation to the second phase of Río Tinto's investment plan.
One of the highlights was the recent formal presentation of the Sal de Vida project under the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI), which includes a capital injection of USD 638 million. This initiative reaffirms Río Tinto's vision of positioning Argentina as a strategic destination for mining investment and projects Catamarca as a global reference in lithium production.
