The governor of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, toured together with authorities of the Argentine Army the works of the new barracks and the housing complex that are being built in the province for the Armed Forces, projects that are in their final stage of execution.
During the visit, the provincial leader emphasized the strategic relevance of the return of the Army to Catamarca, after several years without a permanent presence of the Armed Forces in the territory.
The return of the Army and the strengthening of institutions
Jalil stressed that the installation of the new barracks not only implies an improvement in infrastructure, but also a strengthening of the institutional bond between the province and the Armed Forces.
"This permanent presence strengthens the institutional bond and expands the possibilities for joint work in strategic tasks", stated the governor after the tour.
According to official sources, the complex will make it possible to consolidate a stable operational base of the Army in the province, with the capacity to intervene in different areas of support for the State.
Impact on the community and on operational capacity
The governor also highlighted that the return of the Army will have a direct impact on the local community, both due to the generation of activity linked to the construction work and due to the functions that the forces can perform in the territory.
Among these functions are assistance tasks in emergencies, logistical support, collaboration in situations of natural disasters, and cooperation in strategic planning actions together with provincial agencies.
Jalil maintained that the presence of the Army expands the State's operational capacity in Catamarca, reinforcing coordination between the Nation and the province.
Works in their final stage
The works on the barracks and the housing complex are in an advanced phase, with a view to their imminent completion. The project includes operational facilities and residential spaces intended for military personnel who will be permanently assigned in the province.
The provincial government indicated that the initiative is part of a policy of recovering strategic capabilities and of strengthening the territorial deployment of the national State in the interior of the country.
