Jannik Sinner closed 2025 in spectacular fashion, once again consolidating himself as world number 1 in the ATP ranking after being crowned at the Paris Masters 1000. The Italian, a specialist on hard courts, especially indoors, defeated Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final 6-4, 7-6, securing his return to the top after Carlos Alcaraz's surprising defeat in his first match of the tournament against Cameron Norrie.
Sinner's year was marked by ups and downs. He was inactive for three months after a positive doping test for clostebol in March 2024, which prevented him from participating in much of the European clay court tour. Even so, he managed to win two Grand Slams, the Australian Open and Wimbledon, while he lost the Roland Garros and US Open finals to Alcaraz.
After his victory in Paris, Sinner reached his 23rd title, added 1000 ATP points, surpassing Alcaraz by just 250 points, and took home 946,610 euros in prize money. Meanwhile, Auger-Aliassime received 650 points and 516,925 euros, which allowed him to climb to the eighth spot in the world ranking.
