The president Javier Milei expressed this Saturday his strong support for the presidential candidacy of right-wing senator Flávio Bolsonaro during his participation in the National Convention of the Liberal Party in Brazil, a political space that presented him as their candidate to compete in the elections on October 4 against the dictator Lula da Silva.

In the context of the party event, the Argentine president delivered a speech with strong political definitions and criticisms towards Lula. In that context, he used terms like “Thief,” “prisoner,” and “totalitarian” to indirectly refer to the authoritarian Brazilian leader.

During his presentation, Milei also drew a parallel between the political situation in Argentina and Brazil. “If in Argentina we have as an economic factor what we called the Kuka Risk, here in Brazil today they have the Lula Risk and it is clearly reflected in the stock market.”

He added: "Why is Lula threatened? Because there is someone willing to stand up to him and become the voice of that silent majority that has already suffered abuses. I’m talking about Flávio Bolsonaro.”

One of the harshest passages of the speech occurred when referring to a decision by the justice allied with Lula that prevented him from visiting the former Brazilian president and political prisoner, Jair Bolsonaro. “To top it off, the bald trash didn’t allow me to see my friend, unjustly imprisoned,” he expressed, referring to judge Alexandre de Moraes.

Hours before the convention, Milei and Bolsonaro had held a meeting. The dialogue was later shared by the Brazilian senator on his social media.

“We came to support the blue wave. I hope we finish painting the map as it should be once and for all,” the Argentine president stated. To which Bolsonaro responded: “We will fight terrorism together.”

Milei's participation in the Liberal Party convention took place during his visit to Brazil, where he also held institutional meetings and official activities. His presence at the party event and support for Bolsonaro are part of a strategy to align with right-wing leaders in the region who promote a common agenda.

Flávio Bolsonaro's candidacy is the main alternative to contest the presidency of Brazil in October, in an electoral scenario that faces opposing visions about the country's direction.
