The president Javier Milei confirmed that he will not travel to the United States to attend the 2026 World Cup final, where the Argentine National Team will face Spain.
Instead of making a last-minute trip to New York, the president will watch the match from the Quinta de Olivos, where he has already witnessed all the team's matches during the tournament.
The decision was announced after the historic victory of 2 to 1 against England, a result that secured the qualification of the team led by Lionel Scaloni for another World Cup final.
"We will continue watching them from Olivos, I watched all the matches there," the President stated during a radio interview, justifying his choice not to attend the decisive match in person.
Additionally, the president reiterated that he will maintain a particular ritual related to a garment he wore throughout the competition. It is a YPF jacket that, as he indicated, he has not taken off since the World Cup began. "I always watch it with a jacket from the oil company that you already know and we win, I never took it off again," he asserted.
This is not the first time he has referred to this habit. Days ago, Milei himself explained the reason behind that decision: "I sweat like a condemned man, but the only time I took it off, they scored a goal on us, so I never took it off again."

Meanwhile, the President also mentioned again the proposal for the Casa Rosada to be used as a celebration point in case the National Team achieves the two-time championship. He noted that the building will be available for the team if they decide to share the celebration with fans in Plaza de Mayo.
Argentina will seek its fourth World Cup this Sunday when it faces Spain in New York. The national team arrives at the final after eliminating England, while the Spanish team advanced after defeating France in the semifinals.
With the team focused on the most important match of the tournament, Milei confirmed that he will maintain the same routine that accompanied him throughout the competition, hoping that the ritual will repeat itself and the National Team can add another star.
