Javier Milei: Milei: “Inflation will start with zero in June or August”

Javier Milei: Milei: “Inflation will start with zero in June or August”

In a television interview before traveling to the United States, Milei defended the economic direction of his government, vindicated his confrontational style against Kirchnerism and assured that inflation will start with “zero between June and August”.

At a key moment for the country's political and economic scene, President Javier Milei reconfirmed the direction of his administration and firmly defended his confrontational style against Kirchnerism, which he accuses of trying to destabilize his administration.

He did so in an extensive television interview with journalist Luis Majul, broadcast on the show La Cornisa, a few hours before starting his official trip to the United States.

During the conversation, the president addressed multiple issues that cross the national and international agenda: from the evolution of inflation and the prospects for economic growth to the institutional situation of Justice, the domestic political scene and the geopolitical tension in the Middle East. Throughout the interview, Milei insisted that the country is undergoing a process of profound transformation that, if sustained over time, will consolidate macroeconomic stability, sustained growth and greater institutional freedom

One of the central axes was the evolution of prices. The president reconfirmed his optimistic forecast regarding the disinflation process. “Inflation will start with zero in June or August,” said the head of state, convinced that the program of fiscal adjustment and monetary discipline implemented by his government is paying off.

Within this framework, it directly linked economic results to its possible political future. “I don't fight for electoral reasons, I don't think in those terms. If I have to think about re-election, my opponent is reality, what I achieve with my administration,” he said. And he listed the indicators that, according to his vision, will mark the success of his administration: “We managed to lower inflation, the economy grows, we lift people out

of poverty.”

The president maintained that his administration has already produced significant social improvements. “We lifted 12 million out of poverty,” he said, while projecting a scenario of accelerated growth if the economic course is maintained. “If this government continues, the economy will grow at rates of 8%,” he said, and he also anticipated that “the country risk projected to 2027 is

200 points.”

Milei also referred to the political climate that surrounded his speech at the opening of regular sessions in Congress, where he staged a strong cross with opposition legislators. Faced with criticism for his confrontational tone, the president vindicated his style and made differences with former president Mauricio Macri. “Macri has the manual of shapes perfectly and they wore it.

I'm not like that, I have a gladiator profile and I'm willing to go to the fight,” he said.

Along these lines, he made it clear that he does not intend to give way to Kirchnerism. “I'm not willing to be worn, I don't give Kirchnerism a millimeter,” he said. The president even toughened his characterization of the Kirchnerist opposition even more. “They are not adversaries, they are enemies because they are capable of destroying all Argentines in order to have power,” he said. Another issue he addressed was the appointment of Juan Bautista Mahiques as the new Minister of Justice. Milei defended his appointment and highlighted his knowledge of the

judicial system.

“Mahiques is a person with a lot of experience,” he said, adding that he “knows the dynamics of the judicial sector.”

The president explained that one of the central objectives of his administration will be to fill existing vacancies in the Judiciary. In this regard, the new minister has already announced that he will begin the process to fill more than 200 positions of judges and prosecutors that are currently vacant

.

“The number of vacancies in justice must be resolved, the objective is to gain greater freedom in the judiciary,” said Milei. He also rejected versions that Mahiques could judicially favor Argentine football leaders. “It's false that Mahiques is going to save (Claudio) Tapia and (Pablo) Toviggino,” he stressed. He added: “If Tapia and Toviggino are guilty

, let them pay.”

On the economic level, the president defended the commercial opening promoted by his government and referred to the closure of the Fate company, which left 920 workers unemployed. Milei expressed empathy with the situation of those affected, although she argued that economic transformations will generate new job opportunities. “I understand the enormous pain of those 920 employees who are losing their jobs. I have been unemployed, I know that suffering, that pain,” he said

.

However, he also suggested that the owner of the company, Javier Madanes Quintanilla, tried to put political pressure on the Government. “He called before (closing) people from my government,” he said. And he launched a strong phrase: “Businessmen cannot buy favors that the corrupt politician does not have to sell

During the interview, Milei also defended her conception of economic freedom and criticized the interventionist views of the State. In that sense, he proposed a reflection that summarizes his libertarian vision: “If you earn your money honestly, who the fuck am I to say what you can spend it on? What allows me to be so arrogant and arrogant to say that you can spend on this and not on this?”

At the international level, the president celebrated the return to Argentina of gendarme Nahuel Gallo, who was kidnapped in Venezuela for 448 days by the Chavista regime. “The important thing is that he arrived alive and is in Argentina. That's what's important,” Milei said

.

The president especially thanked the President of the United States, Donald Trump, for his intervention in the process that allowed his release. “This is possible thanks to Trump, who freed Venezuela from Maduro,” he said. Milei also questioned political sectors that, according to his vision, relatize the repressive nature of the Chavista regime. “Nahuel was kidnapped 448 days... The question is, if they had the contact to bring him in, why didn't they bring him in sooner? They pay homage to kidnappers. They are not adversaries, they are enemies,” he said

.

The case had a strong impact on Argentine public opinion after it became known that the gendarme was held incommunicado for more than a year in the Venezuelan prison of El Rodeo 1, without contact with his family or judicial guarantees. Finally, Milei also ratified his international alignment with the United States in the face of tensions in the Middle East and once again questioned the Iranian regime

.

“Iran pledged to stop developing nuclear weapons and was developing them, putting the entire planet at risk,” he said. In addition, he linked that country to international terrorism. “Iran funds terrorists like those who planted two bombs on us in Argentina,” he said, referring to the attacks on the Israeli Embassy and AMIA

.

In another part of the interview, the president denied that he was seeking to modify the Constitution to perpetuate himself in power. “It's false that I want to modify the Constitution. I have enormous respect for institutions,” he said. Although he acknowledged that a possible re-election will depend on the results of his administration, he made it clear that he does not intend to remain in power indefinitely. “Reelection is something that's going to come about if I do things right,” he said. He added: “I don't want indefinite re-election. In 2031 I'm going to live in a camp. In 2031 they don't see me anymore.”
