Javier Milei on Mauricio Macri: 'Perhaps he should understand that his time has passed'

The President celebrated his party's victory in CABA, questioned PRO, and defended the libertarian strategy

In an interview with journalist Antonio Laje on A24, President Javier Milei made strong statements against former President Mauricio Macri and PRO leaders, in the context of analyzing the recent elections in Buenos Aires City, where La Libertad Avanza achieved a significant victory with Manuel Adorni as the main candidate.

Criticism of PRO and Macri

Milei was critical of the PRO's reactions to the libertarian campaign. Regarding the questions about the circulation of alleged fake videos during the campaign, he replied:
"I understand that for some things he is old and doesn't understand them, and his space doesn't understand them either", directly referring to Macri.

He also questioned the former president's economic capacity, stating that "he doesn't understand anything," and he disqualified Silvia Lospennato, national deputy and candidate in CABA, as "a terrible candidate."

Progress of the agreement in Buenos Aires Province

The head of state confirmed that the electoral agreements in Buenos Aires Province to face Peronism are advancing "with or without Macri's endorsement." In this regard, he was blunt:
"That is advanced regardless of Macri. Perhaps he should understand that his time has passed."

Milei listed the PRO leaders who are already in talks with his space, including Cristian Ritondo, Diego Santilli, José Luis Espert, Karina Milei, and Eduardo "Lule" Menem.

Libertarian triumph in CABA and criticism of the local government

The President celebrated that La Libertad Avanza surpassed 30% in CABA, leaving Peronism represented by Leandro Santoro in second place. He described it as a "essential stepping stone" to consolidate the libertarian project at the national level.

He also harshly criticized the mayor of Buenos Aires, Jorge Macri, for splitting the elections. He said that decision caused annoyance among the citizens and was "a clear blow to electoral participation," which reached its lowest level in almost three decades.

Euphoria in the libertarian bunker

Already in the bunker set up at the Hotel Libertad, Milei gave a speech full of enthusiasm, highlighting the importance of the political moment: "Today the yellow bastion was painted purple and from now on, let's paint the whole country purple!" he exclaimed.

He thanked the cabinet for their role in the campaign and especially praised the core of his government's most trusted members, which he called the "Iron Triangle": Santiago Caputo, Karina Milei, and himself.
